Daymon "The Boy From SunFish" Dennis shocks the field of players and wins the Social Singles Division

The "Ultimate Cornholer" Singles Division was just that - very competitive with some of the best players around the nation. This tournament was a double elimination best two out of three in the winners bracket and single game only in the losers bracket. It was also a random draw bracket.
Noel True finished at fourth place and Steve Hayes came in third place. The always tough Noel True's fourth place finish was a little surprising considered his past success in ACO Louisville tournaments. Steve Hayes continues to make a name for himself by going head to head with some of the best players around and giving them all they want. Steve has finished second (TurkeyHole) and third (WinterBlast) in the past two Louisville events showing he one of the top singles players in the area.
In the finals, it was the "Guys", Bret and Matt. Both players are gearing up for the "King of Cornhole" in Las Vegas, NV on the last weekend in January. No doubt, Matt is a heavy favorite to win it again in Vegas, but there are several players around the nation that are getting closer to Matt's level of play. Final thought on this, if I was betting man my money is on Mr. Matt Guy! Bret Guy also showed that he is looking to pick his play up and his overall mental sharpness going into Vegas. Bret was defeated by Matt in straight games in the finals.
Other notables in the tournament: Sherman Smith from Indianapolis, IN, and Charlie True from Monterey, KY.
Thanks everyone that participated in this division. As always, we greatly appreciate your passion for cornhole and the level of play you guys have taken this sport to.
Well, thirty-two singles players started out with the dream of taking home the social singles championship, but only one would leave with that dream coming true. There were many players in this division that could have won it if they were on their game and got a little "lady luck" here and there. In the end, it was Daymon Dennis and the always tough Keith "Heavy Hitter" Blair. Daymon came out on top to get his first Louisville Social Singles Championship. Daymon has gradually improved his game over the past few months and has not been playing as long as some of the other guys that he was going against in this division. Look for Daymon to continue to be a very tough out for anyone in the future. Keith Blair is a proven player in this division and probably was the favorite going in to the tournament but came up short in the finals. Coming in third place was Mark "Don't Call Me Mike" Rice. Mark is extremely difficult to put out anytime you go

against him. Mark is consistently near the top of the pack at every event. Coming in fourth place was Chad "Chili Man" Newman. Look for Chad to get one of these singles titles very soon! Troy "Superstar" King came up short in defending his title from the TurkeyHole, but don't count him out for the next one.
Other notables were: Clinton House, Derrick King, Ronnie Smith, and Jonathon Bentley.
Looking forward to seeing you guys at the next event to be announced soon!
January 9, 2010 - Competitive Doubles
The team of Noel True and Clinton House defeat Kevin Warner and Sherri Eggleton in Competitive Doubles Finals
In the Competitive Doubles division at the WinterBlast, it was the team of Noel True & Clinton House taking the title of Competitive Doubles Champions. True and House took care of business in the finals against the always tough team from Indianapolis, IN, Sherri Eggleton and Kevin Warner. Sherri and Kevin defeated Matt and Bret Guy in a significant win on their way to the finals. Coming in third place was Jonathon Bentley and Charles True. Overall, the competition in this one was extremely tough and just about anyone had a chance to win it. Thanks to everyone that came out.

January 9, 2010 - Social Doubles
Steve Hayes & Ronnie Smith come out of the losers bracket to defeat Daymon Dennis & Ricky Dennis
The Social Doubles at the WinterBlast had some great cornhole action throughout the day! Several quality teams made out the field in this division with just about anybody able to win it if the bags fell their way.Making it to the finals was the team of Daymon Dennis and Ricky Dennis. Daymon was coming off his first singles title and Ricky had finished fourth in the TurkeyHole Singles in November. Their competition was Steve Hayes and Ronnie Smith. Steve has been making a name for himself by beating some really good players in the past couple of months. His partner, Ronnie Smith, is as steady as they come, as well. In the finals, Ronnie & Steve had to defeat Daymon & Ricky in a best two out of three match and then would have to win in a single game only finals. The odds were in the favor of Damon and Ricky, but Steve and Ronnie had another outcome in mind. In a very tough match Steve and Ronnie pulled out the best two out of three match to move it to a final game showdown. In the final game it was all Ronnie and Steve. The momentum had swung in their favor and they rode it to a fairly easy final game.
Coming in third was Mark and Mike Rice. This team is quickly building the reputation as the "toughest out" in the tournament.
Other Notable Teams: Keith Blair and Bill Tindle, Troy Taylor and Duke Bush, Neil Young and Chris Hall, and Steve Slugantz and Kent Slusher
Looking forward to seeing you guys at the next event to be announced soon!
