February 6, 2010 - "Rising Stars" Doubles

Steve Brady & Lester Price cruise to victory in the doubles division defeats Duke Bush & Steve Hayes in finals

The Shooter's "Rising Stars" Showdow III Singles Division was a good one with some very good cornholers competing for the Showdown III title. Some of the past winners in the "Rising Stars" tournaments have been Chad Newman and Bobby Brooks. Now you can add Keith "The Heavy Hitter" Blair to the list. Keith has been close before where he was in the finals against Chad Newman in Showdown II. There is no doubt that Keith Blair has started to raise his level of play over the past three or four months. Blair defeated Mike "The Cornhole Man" Alvey in the finals. It was good to see Mike getting back to form after being out due to surgery on his arm. Look for Mike to just continue to get back to 100% with warmer weather just around the corner. Coming in third place was the always tough Steve Hayes. Steve has had some tremendous showings over the past few months coming in third place in the WinterBlast II and finishing second in the TurkeyHole Classic. Finishing in fourth place was Tony Hankins. Tony is a very good player and when Tony's A game shows up he is one of the toughest outs around. Overall, this was a good tournament and a good time! Thanks to Shooter's for allowing us to have this tournament.

The "Rising Stars" Showdown III at Shooters featured some great guys and some pretty darn good cornhole players. The Championship match came down to Steve Brady / Lester Price and Duke Bush / Steve Hayes. Brady and Price had very little trouble throughout the tournament and the championship was not any different. Brady and Price defeated Bush and Hayes 21-10 to take the title of "Rising Stars" Showdown III doubles champions. Bush and Hayes had to defeat Mike Rice and Chris"Busteeeeeeeeeeeerrrr

rrrrrrrrrrrrrr" Benningfield to get to the finals. Benningfield and Rice finished in third place. Other teams of note were Dustin Adkison and Joel Moenkhoff from Nashville, TN. Also, Jonathon Bentley and Terry Skaggs from Taylorsville, KY. Thanks as always for everyone coming out for this event.
